Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to answer it. The communication remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help us understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are visited most and where sessions end. You can block cookies through browser controls, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the provider that handles it
- Operating the site and maintaining reasonable load times
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Lincoln County material remains with the Sheriff, the county courts, Washington State Patrol's criminal-history repository, and the Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. Information collected about a visitor is not compiled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal-record file. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern information submitted through those tools. Each partner controls its retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Lincoln County offices, Washington courts and agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use cross-site activity to select ads. That processing takes place within their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers receiving queries submitted through their tools
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information we collect. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. In Washington, the Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, governs records held by public agencies, while the Criminal Records Privacy Act, chapter 10.97 RCW, governs criminal-history collection and dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records office. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of data where the law provides that right
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of eligible forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. An updated version will appear here with a new effective date, and continued use will be subject to the posted policy.
